Restoration of Jack Creek is underway with willow harvesting

The Madison Conservation District has begun work on restoring the section of Jack Creek that runs through the Madison Valley Ranch property! This week the Conservation District, Madison Valley Ranch volunteers, and members of the Montana Conservation Corps are harvesting local willows to be placed in the creek with the intention of them taking root and protecting against bank erosion.

Take a look at this great video by the Beaverhead Watershed Committee explaining how similar willow harvesting worked to restore a portion of the nearby Beaverhead River.

Madison Valley Ranch is committed to preserving our local waters and is thrilled that is important project is off to a productive start!
