Each year, the Madison River Foundation puts on an amazing event in the Ennis Fly Fishing Festival. This year, the event is scheduled for Friday, August 29th and Saturday, August 30th and will be held at Peter T’s Park in front of Madison Valley Bank (if you drive through downtown Ennis, you can’t miss it!).
If you are an angler in the Southwest Montana area, you don’t want to miss this festival! The line up of fishing-related events is phenomenal, so between presentations by Craig Matthews, casting clinics for adults and kids, fly tying instruction, fish photo workshops, and invasive species tutorials, you’ll have to make time to browse the numerous vendor booths. There are some amazing gear raffles, including a brand new ClackaCraft Drift Boat!
Proceeds benefit the Madison River Foundation, which has been instrumental in implementing numerous on the ground projects (or “boots in the water” projects, as MRF call them) to protect and enhance the Madison River and surrounding waterways. Their list of projects they have been involved with is expansive and includes the O’Dell Creek stream and wetland restoration, fencing cattle out of riparian zones, planting streamside willows, removing old barbed wire from river banks, and rescuing fish from irrigation ditches in the fall. For more information about joining the foundation, volunteering for projects, or contributing financially to the Foundation, check out their website.
We hope to see you August 29th and 30th!
